MEET CRYSTAL PALACE’S EXCITING NEW SIGNING..
Crystal Palace have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Oscar Mingueza as a free agent, here’s everything you need to know:
THE REPORT
Fabrizio Romano & Bobby Manzi have both reported that Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign versatile, 27-year-old defender, Oscar Mingueza as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Celta Vigo.
WHAT IS HE ACTUALLY LIKE?
Most Palace fans probably won’t keep up with Celta Vigo, but don’t worry – I’ve done the research & analysis and I’m going to keep this as short and easy as I can.
In essence, Oscar Mingueza is a versatile defender, capable of playing anywhere amongst the backline, or even as a wide midfielder on rare occasions. Lot’s of reports say he is mainly a centre-back, but he’s spent most of his time with Celta Vigo actually playing as a wingback.
He’s just generally a very well-rounded footballer, and one whose definitely got a lot of positive characteristics to his game – seeing as he came up through La Masia (also played 66 games, 44 starts for FC Barcelona, but also in recent years has had a host of clubs chasing his signature, including Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Ham United & RB Leipzig. Furthermore, he was in last seasons Europa Leagues’ Team Of The Season.

The main characteristics he has are his intelligence, timing and decision-making. Mingueza knows how to position himself, he sees the right spaces to take up and is always an option for the player in possession.
Mingueza doesn’t run with the ball often, but what he does do is play lot’s of dangerous passes with a good eye for direct & progressive play. He won’t go bombing down the wing the way Munoz does, but he will be a threat going forward – especially on a counter.
For Celta Vigo, Mingueza typically steps up into midfielder, this shows firstly he’s very clearly calm & composed – but also not phased by high-intensity teams. He’s a player we will be able to trust in.
Mingueza is more known for his underlapping runs rather than overlapping (again, unlike Dani Munoz) – but we can expect him to get high when needed.
Mingueza’s defensive game is that of wit & anticipation rather than recklessly diving in.
SUMMARY
To keep this article simple, Mingueza is a signing I am very excited to see at Selhurst Park, he’s in his prime, he’s clever and on a free-agent deal, it’s a no brainer.
Very excited to see him represent the prestiged Red and Blue.

Amazing article what a great player he will be for us, great cover but also can start if needed
He is a proven European player who can take us to the next level, you can see as a club we are gearing up to either go on and push more up the table or fail but at least try while doing it
